TL;DR: Belden's charged me for work they didn't do. They missed an OBVIOUS safety issue. They don't stand behind their services. They want to keep your car for DAYS and DAYS before actually working on it. I went to Belden's this year because I had gone to them last year to get my parking brake looked at. They said (last year) they inspected and adjusted it, and "all it needed was some lube". Well, the first time I actually tried to use the brake it didn't work. According to them they have a 2 year/24K mile warranty on all work. So I went to get it inspected again. I dropped off my car at 8:10 am on Saturday (they open at 8), and they told me they had just a couple of other cars to get to and then it would be my turn. I decided to do some shopping, so I left. I got a call at 1 pm telling me they were closing early and they HAD taken my car apart, but HADN'T "inspected" it, but they "think" it might be the parking brake shoes. They also wanted to keep my car all weekend, and said they *might* be able to start working on it Monday morning. Then they told me that neither the parking brake inspection, nor the work necessary to fix the brake would be covered under their warranty. When I asked what would be covered under their warranty, they told me "nothing". I picked up my car and took it straight to the dealer. When I got there, they told me someone had put the wrong size brake rotors (too narrow) on my half ton truck, and that only one brake was functioning properly. They also showed me that it had been that way for a while, and that it was obvious: anyone trying to fix the parking brake would have to remove the regular brakes to get to them. Considering that the only people to work on my car was Belden previously, that scares and angers me. Especially since I have kids, and they ride with me in the truck daily. Also, they keep reporting to Carfax that they did work they didn't do, so now I realize that Carfax is a wash. At least my dealership fixed everything and did it right. Yay, Cavender's!
