I was disappointed with my recent experience with Belden. I took in my 2018 Chevy Equinox for an alternator replacement and was quoted a price that seemed high to me, about $500 for the part and $500 for labor. When I asked if there was any way for the price to be lowered I was told no, that they had already waived the diagnostic fee so there werent any other discounts they could offer. Being in a hurry to get the repair done, I agreed to the quoted price. When I spoke to my boyfriend about the price he immediately started calling around and within 15 minutes had found 2 other places who quoted me a price for about $450 less. I called Belden and told them that I didnt want them to do the repair and that I had found another place to do it for less. About 30 min later, I received a call back from Belden telling me that they would take about $250 off the price they had originally quoted me. Full disclosure, Belden's work would include a 3 yr warranty on the parts and labor while the other place was only offering me a 1 yr warranty. Also, Belden was installing AC Delco parts while I dont know what brand the other place was only going to use (only that the part was new and not rebuilt). That being said, I can understand a price difference between the two but $450 seems excessive. In the end, I went with Belden because my car was already at their shop and they said the repair would be done quickly but the fact that they didnt offer me the lower price to begin with is disappointing. To me, it seems like they quoted me an unnecessarily high price and then when I decided to pass on their quote they brought the price down to a more reasonable one. This is all speculation on my part but with how things played out, I dont feel that I'm being unreasonable. I've had other repairs done at Belden's and I wouldve continued to go to them but I no longer trust them to provide me a fair price so I wont be using them anymore. Just super disappointed with the experience since the past work they had done on my cars was good and I felt comfortable taking my vehicle to them. Edit 1/13/24 I'm updating my review from 2 stars to 4 based on the customer service I received. Got a call from Antonio with Beldens after I picked up my repaired car and we discussed my dissatisfaction with the experience. This follow-up has made all the difference to me. I really appreciated Antonio's sincere desire to understand my complaint. He listened to my issues and offered his explanations but never made me feel as if he was dismissing my complaints. He just wanted to understand where they had failed to live up to expectations and then offered solutions on how to resolve them. After this conversation, Belden has earned my trust back and I'll continue to take my cars to their shop. Thank you Antonio!
